happy holiday home – the wreath

the holidays are here and we are so ready!   : )

i took a bunch of pictures of our little home all dressed up and will post them over this week leading up to christmas.

step one, was making a wreath for our front door. i’d never made one before so i took to etsy for ideas and found these cute, cute, cute yarn and felt ones and loved them right away. i went to michael’s craft store the day after thanksgiving (i think the only time i”ve ever shopped on black friday, ever) to get all of my supplies at discount! yay.

(since my husband is jewish most all of our decorations fall into a “winter” theme rather than straight up christmas)

for some reason i didn’t think about HOW LONG it would take to wrap a styrofoam wreath from in yarn… it took a WHILE. but i watched tv while i did it and finished probably in about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. once that was finished the little felt flowers were very easy and very fast.  the little felt snow flakes were store bought and sticky back, and everything else was attached with a hot glue gun.  with my diy felt flowers i also added little pearly buttons, some silver bells, and a tiny little fern.  done.

(p.s. – i found some instructions and ideas for the felt flowers here and here.)
