monday, monday.

a start of a new week and a new to do list.  each week i write out “M, T, W, R, F, S, Sn” and write out a list of to do items for each day.  i don’t know why i don’t write my to-dos in my planner, but i don’t.  i think it would get too hectic in my planner, so instead it is written in my steno pad.  a new page for each week.

things start out so organized and each day’s list looks so doable on monday. but, without fail, each day something doesn’t get done and is shifted to the day below and come saturday its pretty clear the odds are stacked against me finishing my list, and come sunday, it’s hopeless.  but luckily, after sunday comes monday when the old list is torn out and thrown away and a new one is written and it all looks so manageable again.

on today’s list: place two client print orders, download and backup memory cards from an engagement session, blog (check!), get my quickbooks up to date, and pay my sales tax.

look at that.  the whole thing almost fits on one line. totally seems manageable, right?

…except that i’ve already given away my morning to babysitting my niece and errands with micheal, and the fact that paying my sales tax has been on every to do list for… oh… months! ack! i swear it’s gonna get done this week!  it really has to! it is so, so, so late. really. don’t tell the government. actually, you can. they already know. they send me nice letters about the fact that i now owe them a $50 penalty for my lateness. awesome.

also, i have no debit card right now since i knew for a fact the last time i’d used it was sitting at my desk buying tickets to a museum online but couldn’t for the life of me find it! after two days of looking and worrying, i finally gave up, called the bank, canceled my card, and ordered a new one (which will take 5-7 days to arrive. uggggh!). i was also just really annoyed because i’ve NEVER lost a debit card and it just pissed me off. and then, what do you know… i found the missing card, ON MY DESK, just 2 hours after canceling it. seriously.

i need an assistant. anyone want to be a personal assistant? tasks will include: post office runs (hate those!), filing my very large stack of un-filed files, getting my quickbooks in shape, PAYING MY DUMB DUMB SALES TAXES, keeping tabs on all of my belongings all the time, sending complaints to flickr for “improving” their site and making uploading my images to blog 3 clicks more difficult eachandeverytime, and making sure the freezer is always stocked with haagen dazs coffee ice cream. i will pay you in imaginary money.  and mayyybe you can share the ice cream with me too.  i’d give you real money, but i owe my real money to the government. sorry about that.

p.s.: where the heck did august go?!?!
