the pants are the problem

i have two problems with the cold seasons, (1) they are COLD – and i hate the cold – and (2) they require cold weather clothes that i just don’t own.

i’ve had a proper job for two years in a city that is cold enough to require long pants or tights for more than ½ the year, and i still only own 5 pairs of work pants.

one brown, one black, one gray, one lighter brown, and one navy blue.

of the five I only really like the brown ones. they are good pants. i got them from express about 3 years ago and have been looking for another pair ever since. i wear these once or twice every. single. week.

i wonder if anyone notices…. ? probably not. they are pretty nondescript.

i’d like my black ones too, but they are hand-me-downs are about 2 sizes too big so i have to wear them with specific shirts that will hide that the waistband is folding and wrinkling under the cinch of my belt.

i like my navy blue ones for weekends, but they are a kinda weird material for work wear and can only be worn with flats and my work ballet flats are 5 years old this year (which is equal to about 15 years old in payless-shoe-years) and showing their age.

my light brown ones are from target and are pilling. they are also about one size too big and don’t have belt loops. meh.

my gray pants are also hand-me-downs and have 0% stretch to them and are so uncomfortable. i like they way the look, but it’s a commitment to uncomfort for the day to wear them. these are also the biggest of the too-big pants and past the point of being helped by a belt, so instead they just sit really, really low on my hips and look funny.

…to get around the pants problem, i try to wear my skits and dresses which I am perfectly happy in in the warm months, but this time of year requires adding tights to the mix and then sitting at a desk all day trying to forget about the fact that I am wearing tights and tights are soooo uncomfortable. does anyone own comfortable tights??? if you say yes, i probably wont believe you, but go ahead anyways and tell me where you got them!

just so this isn’t all doom and gloom, i’m a much happier camper on the weekends, because weekends call for jeans, and jeans i can handle.

and also, i do really, really like the way fall looks on other, more equipped, people…
