winter song

winter time is here and it’s finally cold.  i really hate the cold, but it does make it feel more like the holidays, so that part i like.

i’ve blogged almost nothing personal on this blog in a while, so here is my attept to do so.  i’ve just been too busy trying to stay on top of all of the client holiday sessions to sit and write, but that time has almost past.  i only have a handful of family sessions left before christmas, so now i’m just working on the back end of all of those sessions.  the proofing and ordering and emails and payments, etc.  stuff that sounds boring but things i don’t totally mind all that much.  suprisingly.  maybe it’s just a nice break for my brain.  and maybe it’s just that after it’s done with it’s done with.  where as other parts of the process never quite seem done.

things of late:

  • it’s chanukah!  … or chanukah, chanukkah, channukah, hanukah, hannukah, hanukkah, hanuka, hanukka, hanaka, haneka, hanika, or khanukkah.  (seriously, i found that whole list on the internet. i don’t know if anyone actually spells it in all of those ways, but, like i said, i found it on the internet, so it really must be so.)
  • because it is chanukah (the 5th night, to be exact) we had latkes for dinner tonight with my husband’s family.  now everything we wore smells like it was fried.  which is fine.  except for my coat which i can’t just throw in the wash.  i’m thinking it’s going to get a febreze bath.  this also makes me think of my friend erica, who i worked with and could smell food on my clothes ALL the time.  as in, she could sometimes guess in what restaurant i’d eaten lunch, upon my return to the office.  and i could never smell myself, so i kinda feel like tonight’s clothes would knock her out.  p.s.: my friend whitney is like this too.
  • i decorated for the holidays and i want to blog it, but i worry i’m not going to!  i hope i do though.  it’s a “winter” theme because of jewish husband, referenced above.  i made a wreath for our front door, some christmas tree winter tree decoration-y thingies, and hung tissue poofs from the ceiling… and ornaments, and a starfish (which michael told me is random and doesn’t make sense, but i like it, so there).  we also got a snowflake table cloth from target for the dining room.
  • oh, and, of course, a christmas tree!  except, i shouldn’t say “of course” because it’s our very first REAL tree!  our fake tree we’d had since college got left in the dust when we moved back from LA.  really just because it wouldn’t fit in the truck.  which was frustrating at the time, but now i’m very glad.  i love our real tree.  and it didn’t get the “winter” treatment.  it got the christmas treatment!
  • micahel is on the hunt for a stocking.  mainly just because he wants “santa” to fill it with gifts.  but it’s still cute how seriously he is taking the task of finding the perfect one.  and “perfect” definitely encompasses BIG.  : )
  • if the above doesn’t spell it out, michael is REALLY into presents.  like, he LOVES presents.
  • but he also takes my presents seriously and this year has been bugging me like crazy asking what i want.  but literally everything i tell him, “isn’t good enough”!  what does that mean?!  if i really want new pajamas (which i do!) why is that not good enough???  someone please explain.
  • okay, i gotta quick finish this up before it hits midnight and it’s no longer the 5th night of chanukah and then i have to start re-writing from the top!
  • so one last thing: my book group book is reading the help this month, which i’ve already read, so i got a bye week.  or bye month, i guess.  but then i went shopping for a foster child i signed up to buy gifts for and he wanted books!  a 13 year old boy who asked for books for christmas.  this species doesn’t run in my family.  so, i went to walmart and found the hunger games for $6 and got one for myself too.  i hardly ever, ever, every buy books new, and it’s weird how much i enjoy the fact of how new and untouched my book is.  everytime i turn the page i can feel i’m the first one to turn it.  i like the sound.  so, that’s what i’m reading now, and it’s really good!  i’ll have to library hunt for the other two (it’s part of a trilogy).  i hope the wait isn’t too long.  i wanna get them read before my free month runs out! (especially since the book group i’m in seems to have a penchant for books over 500 pages.)
  • oh, and just in case you were afraid all i got my little foster boy (his name is anthony, by the way) was a stinkin’ book, you’ll be glad to know he also got a boom box and the game of battleship.  this also means i spent more on him than i’ve ever spent on either of my own brothers for christmas.   …but my brother carson was with me at the time and he didn’t seem to mind.

and lastly, a winter song and cute video….

good night!

oh, hi
